Re: Blogging 101: Introduce Yourself To The World

Today’s assignment: write and publish a “who I am and why I’m here” post.

BLOGGING 101: Introduce Yourself To The World by Michelle W. (Originally posted in The Daily Post ; found in beingahuntress)

In every blog that I own, I always write in the sidebar or in the About Me box that my blog is a personal blog. It’s a personal blog because I usually write down the things that I want to say at the moment.

I can say that I’m a personal blogger. Most of my entries are about my life, my day, my rants, my observations, my beliefs and some of the things that I want to do or would like to try soon. I write what I want to say. I don’t actually write about what other people wants me to write. I am not used to writing or following prompts or challenges. Although, I’ve tried a couple of challenges in Tumblr last year. However, it’s not my style and that’s why I stopped doing it, or maybe I did it just for the sake of trying it.

I’m also not the kind of person who likes to take pictures and post it in my blog. I’m not the kind of person who writes Tagalog-English (taglish) entries as well. At one point, I made a secret pact with myself that if I’m going to write an English entry, it will be English from start to finish. Same goes with a Tagalog or a Filipino Entry.

Blogging is interesting. It’s a stress reliever for me. It feels like traveling. Like escaping reality. Like writing about another person. Writing another perspective. Sharing stories. Telling people how you feel. From your inspirations up to your frustrations. It’s an experience that you can share with anyone.

Q: Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?

A: It’s because I’m a personal blogger. I prefer to tell the world who I am using my narrations. I prefer to be the speaker in my blog. Keeping it for myself is okay but letting the world know how it is to be me and how I see the world in my eyes is like a narration in my perspective.

I am not very open to constructive criticisms and I tend to shut down some people who gives me unsolicited advices. Perhaps, that is also the reason why I don’t write book reviews or movie reviews that much. I also write some stories but not as a blog entry because I have Wattpad to publish that for me.

I tried to write random things. I wrote an adventure I had with a stranger. I often write about some of my dreams that I can still remember. Some of my dreams that I can use as a material for my stories. I rant more often than not. I used to blog to rant. And I’m trying to change that. Errr, yeah.. I’m REALLY TRYING to change that.

Q: What topics do you think you’ll write about?

A: I usually write about my life. Narcissistic at it’s finest. I write about everything that I want. I tend to shy away from writing about my family and my biography, but I still did in my About Me tab in WordPress.

Aside from what’s going on, I also tend to write about my opinions. I’m quite opinionated. Isn’t it obvious?

I write about my favorite music or my playlist once in a while. I tried to write about some of the books that I have read too, but I’m biased so I can’t say that my book reviews are reliable.

Q: Who would you love to connect via your blog?

A: I’d love to connect to anyone. I won’t be choosy when it comes to my readers. I appreciate comments and likes too, but I’m not big on reblogs.

I’m not looking for a certain market or a target group of readers. Anyone can read or comment about my blog entries. However, I’m not a big fan of constructive criticisms so I hope that they’ll go easy on me.

Also, I tend to write in my dialect so I don’t think that foreigners would understand my Tagalog or Filipino entries, and I apologize for that in advance.

Q: If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

A: I hope to write something different. Just like in my previous blog entries in Tumblr and my other Tumblr accounts.

I hope to stay in WordPress.

I hope my muse won’t leave me for good. I hope I can share more experiences because I tend to savor it alone and not write about it or take photos of it.

I hope that I can be a better narrator. I hope that I can express my ideas without ranting too much. I hope to be a better version of myself so I can inspire myself and others as well.
